January 2007 started out very busy with a new manuscript to start and updating my website. I'm also setting up the rest of the year and into 2008, so far as writing schedules and traveling. With just one more book to write in an upcoming series, I'm also preparing for the June 2007 pub date of AT THE EDGE.
The cover of this first book has had intensive design consideration, work by Avon's graphic artists and coordinated with the sales and marketing and editorial staffs. I hear it was given a "Linda Howard" treatment, which doesn't hurt. So much work goes into a design and I worked on the back blurb. I love the tag line on the front cover, "They're walking the razor's edge and one false step could be fatal."
Here's the perfect teaser from the back, Claire, Tempest, and Leona: triplets blessed--or cursed--each with a special extra sense that they would deny, given the chance. . . .
What I'm reading: Meanwhile, I've been reading Laurell K. Hamilton's faery underground world and enjoying Meredith's struggle with all of her beaus. I'm familiar with the Cahokia site she mentions, and that brings the story all that much closer. Can't wait to read Mistral. Her blend of court powerplays and faeryland and fables is terrific. Falling Awake by Jayne Ann Krentz was worth the wait; I generally try to catch all of her work. I've been trying to get into The Thirteenth Tale, but find the going hard right now. Marley and Me is also on my TBR stack, though I've heard that if you've lost a pet, it may touch a tender spot.
Yearly Scheduling: I'm still working on this, though I know that the first six months are going to be hectic, with little time for travel. I am hoping to get out in June to sign AT THE EDGE and travel more in the later part of the year. To keep up with me, please sign up for my enewsletter.
I am looking forward to February and Valentine's Day, my favorite holiday.
February 2007
I love Valentine's Day, a fun day, and enjoy it to the fullest--for the entire month. I send fun stuff to my family, a few chocolates to friends, etc., and add those little boxes of candy hearts with sweetheart sayings on them.
We have 3 contests running this month, and two of them are for Valentine's Day. Be sure to check them out here and at FreshFictionFresh Fiction is a new addition to my promotion package created for June's At the Edge. A little closer to pub date, I'll publish a page for this June book. However, the red foil cover makes a perfect Valentine's gift. :)
It's a very busy month, especially since At the Edge's new snazzy red bookmarks have arrived and reviewers' copies need to be mailed. (Autographed bookmarks and snail mail newsletters are available for SASE.)Though books are actually promoted closer to pub date, there is a lot of pre-work to line everything up, conferences, booksignings, etc. Meanwhile, keep checking my blog, Daily or Not, for up-to-date news and updates on this site. I'm transferring some data from the old website to this one, and it is taking some time to get the Waitlist done.
Also, please do join my e-newsletter for info on what I'm doing, writing, traveling, and contests and pop-up ones, too. Just send an e-mail and you're on! Enjoy!

March 2007
After working on this new website, I'm settling down to write on the third book in my psychic sisters trilogy and promotion for the first story, Claire's, out in June, titled AT THE EDGE. Be sure to visit the first reviewand the page with the back blurb.
Promotion is always a busy time, working on databases for booksellers. With a stack of bookmark boxes standing here, my mailer is going to be busy. I just received a thank-you from Elizabeth B., the winner of the Valentine's contest, which was a red bag and my autographed books. She liked all, so I'm set to have more contests with prizes like that.
It's not easy writing when spring weather is shining outside, but I'd rather have that than the Midwest's ice storm. We're still cleaning after that.
Also, please do join my e-newsletter for info on what I'm doing, writing, traveling, and contests and pop-up ones, too. Just send ane-mail and you're on!
April 2007
It's my birthday month, and I am celebrating all month. How do I celebrate? Treating myself nicely with a few little gifts, like a nice long drive with my camera, and I've just ordered a new Lauren Hutton makeup kit. Basically, it's pamper-me time. We all deserve that, once in a while. I'm wrapping gifts for another family member who has a birthday on the exact day!
Still promoting, or setting up promotions for AT THE EDGE. I've just had PR pictures taken and am hoping for the best, more on that later. It wasn't easy, but the photographer and makeup artist helped. Book reviews are great; check them out at the above link, and we're "dressing" Tempest's book #2. I'm also writing lots of articles, plus book #3, Leona's story.
Please do check into the Red Bag contest These are a special promotion, done in the same color as June's AT THE EDGE and I have about 5 of them, stuffed with my backlist and promos from me and from other writers. I added a black sequin bag, too, perfect for those going to RWA glitz parties. I also have a number of popup contests for those on my enewsletter. You can subscribe easily.
I've been asked about going to RT in Houston and to RWA in Dallas, and I'm not planning either. But hey, have fun, everyone who is going.
If you are a bookseller or librarian or reader group leader, and wish to receive advance information about my books and promotions, please write me with the name and location of your store.
Meanwhile, I'd love to hear from you and enjoy Spring.
Enjoy!

SOMETHING HAPPENED TO MAY
June 2007
It's jam-making time, and look at these lovelies.
I'm busy promoting. AT THE EDGE, the first of the Aislings psychic triplets trilogy is a June release. Watch my front page for announcements, or better yet, join my mailing list! I'd love to "see" you at my chats. Or read your comments on my blog, Daily or Not.
The reviews for AT THE EDGE are great. I've created their own home at my website, and enjoying reliving Claire's story as promotion heats up. (For a blurb with Claire and Neil, visit The Aislings.) With upcoming booksignings, chats and articles about Claire, Tempest, and Leona as psychic triplets, with a world-famous psychic mother, it's pretty exciting. Neil, Claire's hunky, woodsman next door neighbor, seems to be standing right on my doorstep. Neil is just an average guy, and understanding Claire's extrasensory perception, takes some doing.
Neil is a handcrafter, creating custom-made campers. These "teardrop" shaped campers have an interesting history dating to the 1930s, and plans can be purchases for those who want to create their own. They're basic, in different sizes, and come with a "chuckwagon" type kitchen that opens in the rear. Neil's have wood paneling, solar panels, awnings, etc. The photo is of commercially made ones, and all are really cherished still today. Light and easy-towing, they are RV favorites.
Claire needs solitude and quiet and she's a handbag designer, selling only to her sister's shop. (Leona is coming up next.) I could never create anything like Stephanie Kimura's bags, but I loved reading about them, and naming my own fictional creations.
I understand handcrafting, since I sewed most of my daughters' clothing, doll clothes, my own things, curtains, etc., and I even made "hobo" denim bags for a while. Then, I'm an artist, too, and love taking pictures, add that onto making jam, etc. For a time, when my girls were young, I did a lot of craft work to supplement. I understand handcrafting and you'll always find a lot about me in my books.
Then, the Aislings are descended from an ancient Celtic seer and a Viking chieftain, and the photo is actually of my actual 1889 books, used for researching The Vikings. Plus, I have my own set of Runes, though I've never gotten good at reading them or tarot cards. I do believe that there are certain psychic forces in the universe and loved researching such with interviews and of course, a book.
I've written more of the backstory to Claire's book at my blog, Daily or Not, and continue to update what's happening with the trilogy. Tempest's story (book 2) has been titled A Stranger's Touch. Tempest's psychic ability lies in her hands; she can tell the history of an object by holding it. She is "middle-born" by three minutes. With three daughters, three years apart, and with my own sister as a reference, I was qualified on sister-relationships.
I also had a Super Beetle, a yellow one like Claire's. So you can see, my books are a part of my life. Writers have these stories pre-built into them.
More good news: A Norway publisher has just now purchased those rights for Silence the Whispers. And EVERY GIRL'S GUIDE TO... will be reissued in Sept 2007 in Silhouette's Man Hunter theme.
Please stay tuned as more develops at my website; I'm always adding new things. And yes, I do it myself, a very personal undertaking. I'm anxious to get some of my photos and paintings up.
Enjoy!
