Writers are all different; their muses are different. Some prefer to stick to their specific brand, while others like to move around, this to please their muse.
If having a specific brand, it is sometimes difficult to step off said brand and maybe rebrand.
Editors and agents may wish the writer to stay within their established brand.
I’ve been fortunate to move around the romance subgenre and now into women’s fiction with romance. My Basket Series and finally finished Fresh Start series could be labeled as women’s fiction with romance. Maybe someday, I may wish to write women’s fiction with other elements, or just women’s fiction. Or maybe sci-fi/fantasy. But the latter is way down the list, according to my muse.
Because life has interfered for the last few years, I’m in Reboot Mode, establishing necessary groundwork ASAP. Every writer has this Life Interferes Period, by the way. Some choose not to Reboot and some do. It is essential to go with the flow and the demands of life…
I am amid a “Reboot”. Translated: Starting Anew.
Sometimes, when electronics fail, you have to unplug everything and then plug in again. And that is exactly what it is like for a writer/artist/creative re-entering the publishing game—after a few difficult years that life throws at you.
Friends are the best at both times. Right now, I’m in foundation mode, laying out bricks to re-emerge. I’ve just completed the third book of my Fresh Start trilogy and edited the first two, for that perfect satisfying ending I wanted.
The next step in birthing the full Fresh Start trilogy is production: Covers, the essential beta readers, subscribers to this blog and to my Newsletter, reviews etc. Sharing with writer friends helps so much.
I am a long-term Versatile writer. (Check out my Book List and the various sub genres?) Dug in. This is what I do when I’m not painting.
Right now, after working on a new website that still needs more, I’m selecting beta readers, review possibilities, and preparing a newsletter for End of Summer Sales etc. Note: If you are interested in beta reading my books, some new, some in reprint, please send Email? While I’m busy at the bricks of re-birthing the full Fresh Start series that has had to wait, I am appreciating those who update me with changes, links, how-tos and plain old good support. So absolutely grateful for friends, personal and/or business now, in this challenging Reboot time. Yes, I am excited about plugging back into the writing life. Thank you!
